Second song written for the 2011 RPM Challenge. Written in 6/8, which is a first, and trying to be different than usual. For RPM reasons I did not try to perfect it and left it relatively raw.
lyrics
I remember
oh so long ago
What you said to me
and what I did not know
I now know everything
I heard it from a friend
Who told me all the words
that you forgot to send
You’ve made me dream of people
I see in the dark
Who never seem to be
What they say they are
You took me to the edge
When I needed your love
what I thought was friendliness
Was really just a push
CHORUS
Out on the road I go
Where I’m going I don’t know
But I’ll be on my own
It’s the loneliness of the long distance strummer
and if I wait
Here all by myself
I think I’ll be alright
and I’ll find someone else
She will care for me
she’ll always be there
and she will love me
as much as I love her
Out on the road I;ll go
When I’m coming home she won’t know
But I’ll never be on my own
no more lonelines for the long distance strummer
